Learn how to create a garden that comes alive at night with white flowers, silvery foliage and night-blooming plants. Moon gardens can be designed for visual appeal or to attract nocturnal wildlife such as moths and bats. This talk covers which native plants work best for a moon garden, how to layer plants for continuous bloom, and tips for planning a garden that is both beautiful and wildlife-friendly. Participants will receive a handout with a moon garden native plant list to help plan their own nighttime landscape.
FIRST-TIME REGISTRANTS: If you are a Centerville/Washington Township resident, please enter Dayton as your city when creating an account. The system WILL NOT recognize you as a resident if you enter Centerville or Washington Township as your city.

Courtney Denning has been interested in nature and studying wildlife since childhood. She started bird watching at her local nature center in junior high and continued her college natural studies with a plant ecology major at Ohio University. She has worked as an environmental educator, social media manager, and library program manager. Before working at Deeply Rooted Landscapes, she worked at the Piqua Public Library, where she started the Piqua Seed Library. Since beginning work at DRL in June 2022, she has been creating garden designs, doing consultations, and managing the social media accounts and website. She has been creating native plant gardens at her home since 2016. She doesn’t have a lot of space, but in less than ¼ acre, she is growing 200 native Ohio plants.
If you realize you are unable to attend ahead of time, please contact the Park District. Having accurate registration allows us to properly utilize our staff and volunteers as well as offer spots to those on the waiting list.
