26SUM - Trail Trekking/Nordic Walking (with Pole Rental)

Ages 18 and up
Tuesdays & Fridays, June 2 – August 28
9:30 – 10:30 a.m.
Fee: $15 nonresidents

Trekking with Nordic poles is a wonderful way to cross-train or try something new. The American Nordic Walking Association notes that this form of exercise engages 80% of your muscles while still remaining low impact.

Meet up with other trail trekking enthusiasts to trek through the parks through this self-guided meet-up program! Sign up to rent Nordic poles if you want to try trekking before you purchase your own set. You will be contacted to sign a borrower's permit and pick up your set for the fall. A limited number of rental poles are available.

There is no registration deadline for this program. Join anytime! Note: Tuesday Trail Trekking locations will be the same as the A Walk in the Park program.

FIRST-TIME REGISTRANTS: If you are a Centerville/Washington Township resident, please enter Dayton as your city when creating an account. The system WILL NOT recognize you as a resident if you enter Centerville or Washington Township as your city.

Note:

View the Trail Trekking schedules on https://cwpd.recdesk.com/Community/Program/

Cancellations will be posted on our website at www.cwpd.org. Look for the red banner at the top of the page.

Please wear shoes comfortable for paved paths and bring a bottle of water. You will receive an email with additional instructions on picking up your rental trail trekking poles. The rented poles will be your responsibility for the length of the program and you will be required to bring them with you to all trail trekking programs that you attend. Extra poles will not be available the day of the class. Please report any damage to the poles to CWPD.

Trekking poles MUST be returned prior to the date listed on your borrower's permit for the end of the session or a hold will be placed on your account. They can be returned early at any point.

Note: Tuesday Trail Trekking locations will be the same as our A Walk in the Park program.

Cancellations will be emailed and posted on our website at www.cwpd.org. Look for the red banner at the top of the page.

Below are the guidelines that we look at for determining cancelation of an adult walking or hiking program:

Heat: A real feel or actual temperature of 100°F or higher forecasted during any point of the program.

Cold: A real feel or actual temperature of 15°F or lower forecasted during any point of the program.

Wind: For programs in the woods or near large numbers of trees, we will cancel for wind advisories or higher (sustained winds over 30 mph or any forecasted gusts over 45 mph) during a program.

Rain: Forecasted prolonged rain (heavier than a drizzle) for a large portion of the program.

Lightning/Thunder: Forecasted thunderstorm risk during the program. If thunder is heard or lightning spotted during the program, the walk or hike ends at that time.

We make cancellation calls for walking and hiking programs about 1 to 1.5 hours before start time using the best info available.

Thanks for staying active and safe with us!

Program and camp cancellations made seven days prior to the start date will receive a full refund in the form of household credit or refund to the original payment method. Those cancellations made less than seven days prior to the program date will be offered a 50% refund in the form of a household credit. Cancellations made during or after the program are not eligible for a refund. Exceptions to this policy can be made at the discretion of the Program Manager.
