26WIN - Spot the Owls Scavenger Hunt

All ages
Thursday, January 8 – Wednesday, February 18
Registration deadline: Wednesday, February 11 (Clues are emailed every Thursday. Registering late may mean you miss some of the clues)

Spot, the Park District Snowman, is excited to go owling in the parks! Whoooo knew we had so many! Each owl has a favorite roosting spot in the parks where they can snooze and observe the daily routine before becoming active at night. Will Spot be able to guess the favorite roosting spot of all his owl friends?

Each week, participants will receive a clue to go out in your parks to search for the owls. Owls will only be hiding at each park for one week! Scan the QR code on the sign next to Spot the Snowman to log which owls were in the park. Each week that you log owls gets you another entry into our raffle for some owl-themed prizes! After the hunt, an owl round-up with images of each owl will be emailed to you so you can vote for your favorite entry.

FIRST-TIME REGISTRANTS: If you are a Centerville/Washington Township resident, please enter Dayton as your city when creating an account. The system WILL NOT recognize you as a resident if you enter Centerville or Washington Township as your city.

Note:

Clues will be emailed out every Thursday starting January 8th at 1:00 p.m. The clues may be a little difficult – you may want to check the Find a Park page on our website for some help!

Clue for Week 1:

Owls are moved and installed on Thursday morning each week. You have until Wednesday evening to find the owls that were placed in the park the previous Thursday.

Register each member of your family. Each person can also vote for their favorite owl.

If you register after the start date and miss some parks, no problem. This is a fun challenge for all, no matter the start date! We will email you a picture of all the entries at the end so you can select your favorite!

Multiple owls will be placed at a single park, so you may have some searching to do! Paths will vary in length and difficulty. Each owl will have a number to log to show that you did spot the. Recording sheets will also be provided to help you remember all your owls!

At the end of the 6 weeks, we will email you photos of all of the owls so you can choose your favorite number before voting. Each participant may vote for their favorite once. Households that painted an owl will not be allowed to vote for theirs.

Votes are due by 11:59 p.m. Monday, February 23. Please submit to klucas@cwpd.org. Prize pickup details for winners will be emailed on February 25. You can still vote for an owl and get a prize with an incomplete hunt!

Good Luck!!
